Our school
We are the 7th Vocational School of Patras. Patras is Greece's third largest urban centre and the capital of the prefecture of Achaia, located in northern Peloponnesus, 215 km west of Athens. Patras is the largest city and the capital of Achaia since Antiquity its port has been the gate of Greece to the west and one of the most significant ports in the Mediterranean Sea. Patras is famous for its Carnival. One of the most significant carnivals in Europe. Our school is located in the northern part of Patras near to the Pampeloponesiako Stadium. It has four basic sectors: Health and Providence, Economics and Administration, Agronomics, Foods and Environment and Information technology.
Why we got involved in the project
While scientific progress on molecular biology has a great potential to increase our understanding of nature and provide new medical tools, it should not be used as justification to turn the environment into a giant genetic experiment by commercial interests. The biodiversity and environmental integrity of the world's food supply is too important to our survival to be put at risk.

Results of production of Biodiesel

1. Reduced pollutants during its combustion
2. The by-product (Glycerin) is exported to India and China
3. Glycerin was used experimentally for production of electric power in a factory of lignite with high saving energy and without increasing ash
4. The remaining production is excellent animal food
5. Cardoons grow very easily without needing fertilizers and pesticides
6. To produce it, 40% of energy is needed during its combustion
